Our May First Holiday. The best and most fascinating trip we have had in China!

Typical open britches that the children wear all over China! I couldn't resist!! No diapers, they just sit the baby or small child down near the ground and they do their duty! The moms and grandmas are trained; not the kids!
Here we are arriving at Sonja's house. Her father and the two students we traveled with. During the three day holiday, called Labor Day, we traveled to six cities: Lizhang, Xinsing, Wei, Wuzhi, Zhongmou, Kaifeng, and Zhengzhou, and met three families. What an adventure!

All of the neighbors and friends would stop us on the street to say, "hello and welcome to China!" That's all they could say! What friendly people and they appear to be happy and content with their harsh living conditions. We were very humbled to meet and greet them. Wherever we went we tried to say Hello! They all loved it and we felt like celebrities!

Sonja's home in the countryside. No indoor plumbing or running water. They have a well and her father ran a hose to the inside sink so they could have water inside.

Sonja with her mother. Her mother works so hard so that her two daughters can go to college. We met so many wonderful families who sacrifice all they have for their children. In the big cities you can only have one child, but out in the villages and small towns the people usually have two children.
